Too Faced Melted Lipstick Review

TOO FACED Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick Review

Alright, so unless you live under a rock, I am sure you have seen photos of the new TOO FACED Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick on Instagram or wherever.

They seemed to have popped up overnight (well, at least to me), so I was super excited to try them.  Any cosmetic that has the words “long wear” in it always immediately catch my eye.  Not to mention, the packaging was pretty darn cute.

Sephora’s website describes it as:

The shine of a gloss, lasting power of a stain, and pigment-packed color of a liquid lipstick, all in one high-impact formula. Bold, long-wearing color glides on cleanly with the precision tip applicator, delivering rich color with staying power.

Awesome! Sign me up.

I decided to wander into my local Sephora to try this baby out.  I picked up the colour that was closest to what I would normally wear (Melted Peony) and went over to the mirror.  Of course they did not have any of the lip applying thingys, so I kind of wiped it off with a kleenex and hoped that the person trying this before me didn’t have an infectious disease.

The applicator reminded me very much of a Maybelline lipgloss that I had years ago – kind of like a sponge with a bunch of little hairs.  Not sure if that makes sense, but it was pretty much the exact same as whatever I had back in high school.

Sephora’s site also says that it has:

A precision tip applicator eliminates the need for a lip liner, making this formula easier to apply.

If I had the buzzer that they had on X-Factor, I would be hitting it right now.  I do not know if it is the applicator or the formula, but this stuff is definitely not easy to apply.  In fact, I found it more difficult to apply than normal lipstick or lipgloss.

I found that it was very difficult to “easily” apply it to my lips.  It was basically going well outside of my lipline, and wouldn’t stop.

Before I go on, it somewhat reminded my of OCC’s LipTar in terms of formula, except a little bit thinner.

I fiddled around with my lips until it seemed presentable and was excited to put it to the test.

The results?

It lasted about an hour.  The only thing I really did was drink a bit of water.  Yikes.

I found that it also seemed to dissolve until it looked like I almost had just pink lip liner on my lips.  Not so pretty.

I’m so disappointed.  I really really wanted to like this stuff.  Unfortunately, I would not recommend it.

Maybe it was just user error?  What have been your experiences with it?!  I would love to know!
