TRESemme 7 Day Keratin Smooth Review

A good portion of my life has been spent trying to find the best products or methods to make my hair smooth and straight.  You name it, I have probably tried it.  I was thrilled to see a new system available – TRESemme 7 Day Keratin Smooth.

TRESemme 7 Day Keratin Smooth Review

The “system” consists of 3 products:  Shampoo, Conditioner, and the Heat Activated treatment.

TRESemme describes the system as:

…a breakthrough non-damaging smoothing system that lasts through washes. Get salon-smooth hair that lasts for 7 days**, even through washes.

I followed the directions by washing and conditioning my hair.  Easy enough.  It was then time for the heat activated treatment.

Heat Activated Treatment

Although this was not exactly rocket science, applying the heat activated treatment seemed like a few too many steps for me.  Okay, they aren’t that bad, but I’m use to just putting product into my hand and rubbing it through my hair.

To start, you are supposed to divide your hair into at least 4 equal sections.

You then apply 2 pumps of the product to each section.  Let me tell you that each pump is not your typical small amount!  2 pumps are more than what I would have normally put into my entire head of hair!  It seemed like a little much, but I kept applying as described.

8 pumps later, I combed through my hair to make sure the product was distributed smoothly.  It felt a little heavy, but not as bad as I thought it would.

The instructions then tell you to completely blow dry hair.

*NOTE* Blow drying your hair is not enough to “activate” the Thermal Technology.

You must flat iron your hair in small sections, and run each section through the flat iron at least 3 times.

Anyways, back to the blow drying.  I found that as I was drying my hair, it was slightly heavy.  You know how sometimes it takes an extra long time to blow dry your hair?  Well, that’s what happened (probably because my hair was soaked in the treatment).  It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t great either.

I made sure to flat iron my hair.  By the time I was done doing that, my hair was pretty smooth and well, flat.

Normally I try to go at least 3 days between washes, but I wasn’t able to.  By day two, I was ready to wash again to see what happened.

I washed and conditioned with the products and blow dried my hair.  It was still pretty smooth!  I wondered though, was it still smooth because of the process I had gone through, or was it smooth because the shampoo and conditioner were good products?  It was hard to determine.

A few washes later, I realized it was “time” to go through the whole process again.  To be honest, the idea of it exhausted me.

I decided to try something else.

After shampooing and conditioning, I decided I would try applying one pump for all of my hair.  All I can say is WOW!

My hair was smooth, easy to blow dry, and bouncy.

I’ve been doing this over the last month or so, and I’m absolutely thrilled with the results.

I may not be following the “system” correctly, but I am loving how easy it is for me to blow dry my hair!  I would highly recommend picking the 3 products up and playing around with them.

They are very well priced (I paid about $5.99 Canadian for each product), and they are comparable to any of the higher-end products.

What is your experience with the TRESemme 7 Day Keratin Smoothing System?   I would love to hear your comments below!
